Cozy Cottages by Stanford Carr

The Cottages at Ali’i Drive were developed by Stanford Carr, a well-known company that has been around since 1990. Stanford Carr is known for creating beautiful communities and for incorporating a variety of architectural design plans. This developer utilizes the latest technologies to pull together community plans across Hawaii that are environmentally sustainable.

With 58 single-family homes spread out across 10.14 acres of land, The Cottages at Ali’i Drive have managed to be a relatively small, yet spacious, community at the same time. These adorable homes are located at the foot of the Hualalai Mountains and are also near several desirable Hawaiian beaches.

Residents at the Cottages enjoy the benefits of living in a fee-simple, single-home community that is just a short drive from Kona town. When you combine beautiful beaches, majestic mountains, and the conveniences of the city, you get a community that remains relatively private and isolated but also provides easy access to some of the most stunning backdrops Hawaii has to offer.

Touring Through the Cottages

The Cottages at Ali’i Drive includes 6 different floorplan with both craftsman and plantation-style architectural designs. Each cottage include 3-4 bedrooms across 1 or 2 stories. The variety of floorplans provides plenty of options to help find the best match for you and your family.

While each floorplan is a little different from the others, there are some commonalities across the designs. Every unit features an open-concept layout with 9-foot ceilings and large living room windows to take in the amazing views. Each cottage has an island kitchen with quartzite kitchen countertops and a pantry cabinet that includes roll-out shelving for ease of organization.

Master bedrooms are equipped with large walk-in closets and mirrored wardrobe doors. Each bathroom includes solid-surface countertops with a cast iron shower or tub. Bathrooms are equipped with Kohler plumbing fixtures across each of the units.

Outside of the home, you’ll find private yards that have already been fenced-in as well as private garages to park your cars. All of these conveniences are available for each cottage, with additional features and amenities that are specific to the individual floorplans.

Cottages: Specific Features

In addition to the commonalities among the cottage floorplans, there are also special features that are incorporated into each style of home.

Let’s start with the 1-story homes. The Cottages at Ali’i Drive offer two 1-story homes: The Kamoaliʻi (Plan 1) and the Aliʻiōlani (Plan 4). Kamoaliʻi is a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home with 1,822 square feet of living space. This does not include the square footage of the covered porch and lanai, both of which are included in this floorplan. Some of the other highlights of this cottage are the inclusion of numerous kitchen appliances (refrigerator, range/oven, microwave/hood, and dishwasher), a full laundry room, and dual sinks in the master bedroom.

The Aliʻiōlani (Plan 4) is a 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom home that is 1,968 square feet. This floorplan does not include a lanai, but it does feature a covered porch. Like the Kamoaliʻi (Plan 1), the Aliʻiōlani features double sinks in the master bathroom and a full laundry room. One of the main selling points of this floorplan is the additional full, private bathroom for the 3rd bedroom and the extra closet storage space located under the stairs.

Additional floorplans offered at the Cottages at Ali’i Drive are 2-story units. The Kānealiʻi (Plan 2) is a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom unit and is 2,186 square feet. Some of the features of this plan are also available in the Aliʻiōlani plan—double sinks in the master bathroom, extra storage space under the stairs, and the inclusion of a covered front porch.

The other 3-bedroom 2-story floorplan, the Kamohoaliʻi (Plan 5), also includes 2.5 bathrooms. It is a little larger than the Kānealiʻi at 2,256 square feet. The Kamohoaliʻi features a separate laundry room, a covered porch, and extra storage space under the stairs.

Lastly, we have two 4-bedroom floorplans in the final 2-story units, both of which include 2.5 bathrooms. The Onealiʻi (Plan 3), is 2,506 square feet. It features a covered porch and lanai and extra storage space with a large linen closet and a storage closet under the stairs. Additionally, there is a storage cabinet on the upstairs landing that provides some additional room. The Onealiʻi includes double sinks in the master bathroom and also has a separate laundry room.

The Kealiʻi (Plan 6) is 2,619 square feet plus a covered porch and lanai. The shared bathroom for this floorplan includes double lavatories, and the master bathroom contains a separate tub and shower stall as well as double sinks. Extra storage space can be utilized with the storage closet under the stairs in addition to the linen closet. This floorplan also includes a separate laundry area.

Living Near Kona

The Cottages at Ali’i Drive are located near a unique Hawaiian city—Kona. With just a short drive, residents at the Cottages can visit historic Hawaiian landmarks and also pass the time at the many restaurants and shops located across the city. Whether you are looking for a historical walking tour or want to relax and enjoy the nightlife, there is plenty to do in Kona.

For those who love to be in and around the water, beaches near South Kona offer calm, serene waters. This is ideal for people who enjoy diving, sailing, or snorkeling. The waters are also quite clear, which allows for special moments of catching glimpses of dolphins and green sea turtles.
