A beautiful shot of Timber Kauai in Hokuala.

A Community in the Making

Hokuala is a master-planned development currently underway on the island of Kauai. This exclusive community features luxury homes for sale and for rent in addition to brand-new homesites for buyers looking to construct their dream homes from scratch. In addition to the opportunities for home ownership, Hokuala provides a variety of upscale amenities for residents and visitors.

The most notable part of life in Hokuala is the natural beauty of the surroundings. While at the resort, you’ll be able to take in the fresh ocean breeze and enjoy water and mountain views from the comfort of your home. The community is interconnected by a series of walking and biking trails, making it easy to get around to the different amenities and stay active year-round. The trails within Hokuala range from .4 to 3.8 miles, and there are numerous additional trails outside of the immediate community throughout the whole island.

Hokuala boasts the longest oceanfront golf course in the state of Hawaii. The Ocean Course at Hokuala is a Jack Nicklaus signature course. It has received several awards and offers incredible views at every hole. The development also hosts the Hokuala Teaching Center where residents and visitors can take lessons from PGA golfers and attend tournaments and clinics. The center even hosts cardio golf classes to polish your technique and get your workout in simultaneously. Hokuala truly is a golfer’s paradise.

If you’re looking to take it easy, be sure to check out The Spa at Timbers Kauai, the onsite spa that features local ingredients and follows some of the traditional Hawaiian techniques that have been utilized over time. There is also a nearby fitness center that provides group classes and equipment, including an outdoor studio.

Other highlights of the Hokuala resort include Hualani’s Restaurant and The Farm at Hokuala. Hulani’s offers farm-to-table local cuisine with freshly made craft cocktails. The Farm at Hokuala covers 12 acres within the community and features plants that are native to the island in addition to fruits, vegetables, and even edible flowers. Residents and guests may want to take one of the tours to explore The Farm. These attractions speak to the deep roots of the community and pay homage to the native Hawaiian culture. Other cultural activities offered at Hokuala include hula lessons, ukulele lessons, and lei-making workshops.

Hokuala: Homes and Homesites

While parts of Hokuala are already fully developed, there are some components that are still under construction and in preparation for future sales. The 2 main “neighborhoods” within the community are Timbers Kauai and Pakela Ike.

Timbers Kauai Ocean Club & Residences
Timbers Kauai Ocean Club & Residences

Timbers Kauai features 47 ocean-front homes ranging from 2-4 bedrooms in size. These homes are for sale, with options for whole ownership or fractional ownership. Each home is also eligible for the Timbers Kauai Rental Program, so there are opportunities to gain a return on investment, even when not living on the property full-time. Visitors can reserve the homes for nightly rates.

The 4 major Timbers Kauai floor plans include Maliula, Kaiholo, Laola, and Laola Nani. Maliula is a 3-bedroom, 3.5-bathroom plan featuring views of the ocean and the golf course. These units have at least 3 lanais and include natural stone vanities and custom cabinetry. You’ll find hardwood floors throughout the kitchen, living room, and master bedroom. These homes are selling at $4,150,000 and above.

Next, we have the Kaiholo, which is a 3-to-4-bedroom plan with 3.5 bathrooms. At the moment, these homes are temporarily sold out, but there may be opportunities for resale in the future. Kaiholo homes feature up to 4 lanais, including a private lanai accessible from the master bedroom. Like the Maliula, the Kaiholo features hardwood flooring in the kitchen, living room, and master bedroom. This plan also includes beautiful natural stone vanities.

The Laola plan offers a unique view of the surrounding area, as these homes are set above the 15th fairway of the golf course. Like the Kaiholo units, the Laola homes are currently sold out. This location provides views of the lighthouse and the mountains. Laola units include 4 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms across 2 levels. Some of the unique features of this plan are the private plunge pools, outdoor showers, and 10-foot ceilings. Additionally, you’ll find a huge main-level lanai that includes a built-in barbeque area. These features make the home a perfect place for hosting friends or simply relaxing with your family.

Lastly, we have the Laola Nani homes, which are currently in pre-construction. These 2-story homes are of the townhome style and include luxurious features, such as private plunge pools, disappearing glass doors, and stunning views. Home sizes range from 3-4 bedrooms with 3.5 to 4.5 bathrooms. Costs will vary depending on the particular home, but they are expected to start at $6,090,000.

The other neighborhood within Hokuala, Pakela Ike, is a series of 24 half-acre homesites, each with ocean and mountain views. These homesites provide opportunities for buyers to design and build the home of their dreams within the beautiful resort community. Lots are arranged around cul-de-sacs and provide a private, homey feeling.

Similarly to the Timbers Kauai homes, residents of Pakela Ike will have access to all of the amenities and attractions at Hokuala. These homesites are perfect for individuals wanting to have a bit of distance from tourists while enjoying the beauty of the island.
