Wailea Point

Wailea Point was conceptualized by Clyde “Bud” Wagner, a developer who owned the land in 1983. With help from his son, a project manager, they broke ground on the development in November of 1984. The project was completed in three stages: the first included 6 buildings with 21 homes, the second added 12 buildings with 46 condos, and the final phase brought 16 buildings with 64 condos. All 130 units in the complex were pre-sold by the time construction finished in 1988.

More than three decades later, Wailea Point is still considered a prized location in Wailea. Many of the condos have been remodeled to reflect current trends, and most of the owners work with Maui's top contractors and designers to preserve Wailea Point’s prestigious reputation. Condos here sell quickly thanks to the incredible views, appealing floor plans, and the development’s timeless appeal.

Residences

Back in 1986, the original documents from the developers (like this one: Report Link) revealed that there were 41 different floor plans, with sizes ranging from 1,359 to 4,452 square feet. Every condo was designed with at least 2 bedrooms, a living room, dining room, kitchen, entry foyer, utility room, bathrooms, and lanais for outdoor space.

Additional units, such as 202 or 502, went beyond the basics by offering features like a mezzanine area, an extra master suite or two bedrooms, and more bathrooms.

A select group of units also featured an entertainment level equipped with a wet bar and extra storage space. As time went on, the AOAO rules allowed owners to remove the walls between adjoining units, creating even larger and more distinctive open spaces. So, when you look at Wailea Point condos for sale now, you'll find these combined units and other unique layouts.

Some owners have bought into Wailea Point to use their condo as a vacation home. The association does allow you to rent out your unit, but with a minimum of 30 days which is consider more of a mid-term rental than a short-term rental.

Well-maintained amenities

You can enjoy a long swim in the 25-meter lap pool, splash around in the free-form pool, or watch the kids play in their own pool. If you're into sports, there's tennis, pickleball, and paddle tennis courts available. You can also BBQ, hang out in the open lounge, or use the multi-purpose room for various activities. And of course, there is a well-equipped fitness center. It's also important to note that pets are permitted (2 per residence), however, pets are not allowed into common areas.
