Welcome to Hokulia!
Welcome to Hokulia!

Embracing the natural beauty of the rugged lava terrain, Hokulia exudes Hawaiian elegance in homes evoking plantation-era architecture with modern luxuries. For those seeking an exclusive island lifestyle in one of Kona's most coveted communities, Hokulia delivers tropical perfection.

A Sheltered, Sun-kissed Location

Away from the dense resort areas of world-famous Kailua-Kona and sheltered by Mauna Loa, Hokulia gently rises along three miles of lava-strewn coastline. Farther up the slopes is the charming small town of Kealakekua in the midst of the world-renowned Kona coffee country. Kailua-Kona is twelve miles up the coast.

A Modern Interpretation of a Sumptuous Hawaiian Lifestyle

Two areas of Hokulia currently have homesites on its roomy 1,260 acres. Rising to over 1,200 feet at Hokulia's highest point, stunning ocean views are a bespoke feature for all homesites, with lovely coastline, golf course, and mountain views also likely with Hokulia's naturally rising elevations.

Mahea Lani

On Hokulia's higher elevations above the Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course, this first development phase consists of 251 homes and homesites. Custom-designed homes are modern interpretations of the classic Hawaiian airy open floor plan flowing to a spacious lanai. Residential resales range in size from 3,000 to 7,000 sq. ft. and include a host of features and amenities.

Lots for custom-design builds are one to two acres and maybe already grubbed. All custom-designed home and lot resales include an agricultural easement for growing produce in the rich volcanic soil. Homesites in these higher elevations begin at $300,000. Custom home resales are generally selling for $4 million or more. Club membership may be included in the resale price.

Nalu Kai

This second phase of development is offering 20 spectacular "front row" homesites bordering the lava-carved Hokulia Shoreline Park with the sparkling ocean beyond. One- to two-acre lot prices range from $4.25 million along the lower 4th fairway to $7.5 million bordering the Shoreline Park. Club membership is included in the lot price. Nalu Kai will eventually consist of 93 spectacular "front row" homesites along Hokulia's nearly three miles of shoreline.

Future plans for a final 194 homesites will bring Hokulia's total of custom homesites to 538 on its 1,260 spacious acres.

Hokulia custom homes are designed to take advantage of the flowing indoor-outdoor ethos of Hawaiian hales (homes), bathed in gentle breezes among lush and fragrant tropical landscapes.

Enhancing an Active, Healthy, and Relaxing Lifestyle

At Hokulia, daily life follows a gentle rhythm - the quiet splash of lazy waves soon receding the rocky coast, zephyr winds lightly swaying the palm fronds, and the perfume of plumeria wafting through the air. Mornings may begin enjoying freshly picked fruit from the garden or a brisk walk along Shoreline Park as the sun crests the mountain.

The lifestyle here is relaxed yet refined, embracing Hokulia's magnificent natural setting in inimitable Hawaiian fashion.

The Club at Hokulia

Hokulia's equity club membership provides home and homesite owners with a fantastic assortment of world-class amenities. For the golfers, the prized amenity is the award-winning Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course. The course provides fabulous ocean views on undulating fairways while capitalizing on year-round sunny weather and gentle breezes. With fewer club memberships than the usual golf course membership, the member's benefits are no wait times, less wear and tear on the course, and top-tier maintenance and upkeep.

Set among nearby golf course fairways, the Polynesian-inspired clubhouse hosts luxurious resort-style amenities. Providing the design theme for future club structures, the clubhouse's open flow-through concept furnishes commanding views of the opalescent waters of the Pacific while immersed in the dynamic beauty all around.

The clubhouse's nine village-like interconnected pavilions house more world-class amenities. Completing the golf course experience, the clubhouse accommodates high-luxury men's and women's golf lounges, locker rooms, and a golf pro shop. A state-of-the-art fitness center, relaxing massage facility and spa, and rejuvenating outdoor yoga area comprise the Wellness Center. A three-lap outdoor pool and clay tennis and bocce ball courts are adjacent to the clubhouse complex.

The Hokulia Pavilion Restaurant invites casual elegance with impressive vistas - savoring refined yet familiar dishes showcasing the best of the Islands. The floor-to-ceiling open design frames the ocean vistas, while the menu blends locally caught seafood, Hawaiian-infused cuisine, and continental classics. From morning espresso to sunset cocktails, the Pavilion Restaurant cultivates community and connection in natural splendor. Relaxation and enjoyment are also on the menu at the freestanding covered outdoor bar.

The Hokulia community views the stewardship of this historic, culturally rich area as a privilege but also a welcomed responsibility. The Hokulia Parks and Cultural Sites Association oversees the preservation and maintenance of the historic sites. Between the golf course and the ocean is the very special 140-acre Hokulia Shoreline Park.

Hiking trails cut through the lava-strewn grounds past ancient man-made rock walls and other archaeological and cultural treasures. Relaxing nature viewing platforms provide a front-row seat for watching playful dolphins, migrating humpback whales, and emerging sunsets promising memorable displays. Scattered in lava rock crevices near the water's edge are tidepools teeming with aquatic life.

Beyond the park on Nawawa Bay, ocean activities such as snorkeling, surfing, paddleboarding, scuba diving, and ocean fishing make for an active, fun-filled day. The Club’s concierge services are available to assist with needed gear and lessons.

A Very Special Place

Tucked away from the bustle of Kailua-Kona, Hokulia spans a spacious 1,260 acres defined by dramatic elevation changes, from seaside cliffs to the lower slopes of Hualalai. Every homesite boasts sublime vistas - aquamarine ocean, lava-encrusted coastline, sun-lit mountains, and the verdant expanse of an acclaimed golf course threaded between lava flows. Lush tropical landscaping of native plants and flowers flourishing amid lava rock features soothes the spirit as it reminds members of the aina’s past. Homesite agricultural easements promise nutritious fruit and vegetable edibles from rich volcanic soil right in the backyard.

Sheltered by Mauna Loa, the weather, too, is special. Enjoyed throughout the community, the breezes are gentle, drifting along under a kind sunny sky. The weather is rarely above 86ºF/20ºC and varies only slightly by elevation. The topography, weather, and surrounding beauty complement the community's healthy lifestyles.

Hokulia's unique and specially-created Shoreline Park is memorably scenic as walking trails wend along most of Hokulia's three miles of lava-strewn coastline. However, this former location of an early Hawaiian settlement and Hawaiian royalty is culturally significant. Here, residents and visitors can connect with the culture and legacy of this special place through archaeological artifacts memorializing those who came before.

Hokulia is a luxurious and gracious living experience where natural wonders abound, from the ocean's timeless pulse to the majestic sheltering slopes. Across 1,260 acres tailored to inspire, Hokulia's harmonious blend of nature, culture, and community makes it an island home like no other.
