A Different Design

Built in 1991, Imperial Plaza is a mixed-use development featuring residential condos, commercial condos, and townhome units. The building was originally designed by Colin De Silva and showcases Japanese-style architectural features, with the frequent use of triangular shapes and the solid, concrete building structure. This development also incorporates rose-colored glass, which elevates its appearance, making it a unique and beautiful site to see. You’ll also notice white lanais emerging from dark windows which create a brilliant juxtaposition of colors.

The basic structure of Imperial Plaza consists of 2 buildings. These buildings are connected by shared amenities and a parking garage. One of the buildings, named The Imperial, is a high-rise condominium tower with 206 residential units and 55 commercial units across 39 floors. These units feature 2- and 3-bedroom floor plans. The commercial units are occupied by 6 stories of offices in addition to local, street-side shops.

The other building is called The Plaza and is a mid-rise, terrace-level establishment. The Plaza features units that are more of a townhome style, with every unit covering 2 stories. These homes are located off the recreation deck and offer high-rise views out of the back windows and house-like, terrace-level views out of the front windows. Pets are allowed in both building structures. Although the buildings are connected by the parking and recreation decks, they each have their own lobby and entryway.

Home Highlights

The units at Imperial Plaza are far from your typical condos and townhomes because of their unique architectural style and numerous floor plan options. Each unit has at least 1,100 square feet of living space. Some of the condominiums (and all of the townhomes) have 2 stories. There are countless options of floor plan styles, and central air conditioning is available in every unit. Each plan also includes an in-unit washer and dryer. These features contribute to the comfort and convenience of residents and are perks that can be hard to find outside of single-family homes.

Like many complexes, the individual unit features may vary depending on the floor plan and even on the previous owners. Some units have a beautiful grand staircase. All of the condos have 10-foot ceilings, which help add to the sense of openness in the unit. Most of the master bathrooms include double sink vanities. Depending on the floor, residents may be able to see the ocean from their home.

Another unique feature of Imperial Plaza is the inclusion of multiple lanais in a large portion of the units. Many of the floor plans include triangular-shaped lanais that are both unique and spacious, and some of them even have private, master-bedroom lanais that are separate from the other living areas. Each townhome floor plan includes a minimum of two lanais. Additionally, the penthouse units feature floor-to-ceiling windows so that you can take in the stunning views! With all these features available, it’s easy to spend some time soaking in the sun without even having to leave your home.

Imperial Plaza features 8 elevators for the convenience of residents and their guests. Each building has its own entryway. The entryway to the tower includes a porte-cochere and a 2-story waiting area. Residents can feel safe and secure with the building’s security measures, including security guards and high-tech devices, like passkey entry, video surveillance, and Enterphone building access. There is also an on-site resident manager.

At the terrace level, you’ll find the entryways into the townhome units in conjunction with the shared recreation deck. The deck is beautifully landscaped and also includes attractive water features. Some highlights of the deck are the heated pool, the hot tubs, and the sauna. Residents can also enjoy a cookout in the on-site BBQ areas or spend some time relaxing in the recreation room. These amenities are great for entertaining guests or for enjoying a staycation at home with the family.

Imperial Plaza also provides covered parking for residents and their guests (though you may not even need a car, since the location is walkable to countless places to shop and dine). The building maintenance fees already include payment for air conditioning and sewer, so residents will not have to worry about paying these bills separately.

Walking Around Town

One of the benefits of living at Imperial Plaza is having the ability to walk to many points of interest. The development is walkable to the Neal Blaisdell Center, a huge arena complete with a concert hall and an exhibition hall. The Center also provides meeting rooms and can serve as a space for different types of events, including corporate events, special exhibits, and concerts. Some of the stars that have previously performed in the hall include Aerosmith, the Backstreet Boys, the Black-Eyed Peas, Bruno Mars, and Billy Joel. Imagine being able to walk to the concert venue hosting your favorite band—and not having to wait for an Uber or taxi to get home at the end of the night!

Other nearby attractions include the Ward Village Center and the Ala Moana Shopping Center, both of which offer numerous shops and restaurants to explore. Ward Village hosts the Kakaako Farmers Market, which is open on Saturday mornings and is a perfect place to get fresh foods that are locally grown. The Ala Moana Center is known for being the largest open-air shopping center. Shop at both local boutiques and big brand stores, with over 350 stores and restaurants. There’s even a daily hula show and other community and cultural events to enjoy.

Living at Imperial Plaza also means living conveniently close to countless sources of entertainment. Whether you want to relax at the beach, try a new restaurant, or head to a concert, everything is either a walk or a short drive away from home. Additionally, Imperial Plaza’s location is a simple commute for those who work downtown.

The combination of unique floor plans, upscale amenities, and convenient location makes Imperial Plaza a great place to stay. Living here will, in the literal sense, have you looking through rose-colored glass as you gaze outside your windows.
