Making a House a Home

Nanea was the first and latest phase within the Koa Ridge development, and it is perfect for those looking for a single family condominium home. Each unit is detached, allowing for some extra privacy among the units. Hawaiian for “tranquil,” the Nanea homes could serve as your family’s getaway from the hustle and bustle of life on the outside.

One of my favorite aspects of Nanea is the amount of flexibility provided to future homeowners. The condominium homes come in 6 different floor plans, with options for 3 or 4 bedrooms and opportunities to customize the unit to include up to 6 bedrooms. Don’t need so many rooms? Consider using that extra space as a den, home office, or family room. Some units also have the option for adding on a built-in desk.

Another way to customize your Nanea home is to choose among the 3 different architectural styles. Selections include Hawaiian plantation (for a mixture of modern and classic styles with metal accents), craftsman (for an earthy, cozy feel), or contemporary (for a more modern look with geometric lines). Each style also offers different color scheme options to make your home your own. My personal pick would be the craftsman style, as it feels extra homey and includes the smaller details with the window and door trims.

Regardless of the style you choose, your home will come with a 30-year cement siding warranty and a 30-year limited lifetime warranty for the shingle roofing. Other outdoor features include an attached, enclosed 2-car garage, a covered front entry, and a covered lanai.

More Inside Details

Floor plans at Nanea are spacious and range from 1,314 to 2,228 square feet. The living areas feature 9-foot ceilings, and some floor plans have options for vaulted ceilings that can make the space feel even more open.

In the kitchen, you’ll find stainless steel Whirlpool brand appliances and a Kohler double-compartment sink that even has a pull-out faucet for cleaning larger dishes (or even small children—no judgment here). Units include a range/oven, hood fan, and dishwasher. There are also optional appliance upgrades to include a washer and dryer set, a refrigerator, and a microwave.

The countertops are LG solid-surface, and all kitchens (and master bedrooms) include USB/USB-C outlets so you can easily charge your devices while on the go. The kitchen cabinets are painted white Shaker cabinets. My most-loved feature of the cabinets is that they are soft-closers, which can significantly reduce the noise when you (or the kids) close the cabinet doors.

Like many other aspects of Nanea homes, there are options to upgrade within the kitchen. Home buyers may choose to upgrade to quartz and granite countertops or change their cabinet style and color. There is also the option to include a customized pantry and unique wall tiles to help bring out your personal style.

The upstairs spaces are lined with wall-to-wall carpet, aside from the bathrooms and laundry room (depending on the floor plan), which feature contemporary vinyl. Master bedrooms include a walk-in closet and dual bathroom sinks. Another nice touch of the master bathroom is the glass-door shower, which upgrades the feel of the space. Homeowners will have the option to upgrade the mirror and lighting fixtures and to include ceiling fans throughout the home.

These days, more advanced technological features are being developed for the convenience of homeowners. Nanea homes include several Smart Home features, such as a WiFi doorbell and a smart garage control. The QOLSYS Smart Home panel allows you to control aspects, such as your home, with the touch of a button.

One aspect I really appreciate about these modern homes is the focus on use of energy efficient resources to help save you money and reduce our impact on the plant. For example, Nanea homes come with solar-powered water heaters, LED lighting, and Energy Star dishwashers, all of which are high efficiency. Have an electric vehicle? The garages already include an outlet so that you can easily charge your car within the comfort of your home. In terms of savings, these small details can really add up over time.

Living in the Koa Ridge Community

While the Nanea homes are beautiful on their own, one of the most attractive components of joining the neighborhood is the opportunity to build connections among the greater Koa Ridge community.

Residents of Koa Ridge enjoy easy access to parks, restaurants, and stores, all within biking or walking distance. The community center offers fitness and music classes, and the Hale Lau Koa (House of Koa leaves) provides a space for cultural events, like traditional hula performances and art shows. With options for school, work, and leisure activities all within the same walkable community, you may not even need a car.

Residents will enjoy the local art and Hawaiian nature as they walk from their homes to work, school, and other places of interest. There are also plans for a future medical center right inside the community. One of my favorite parts of this community is the 7.5-mile Ho‘ala Trail, which is wrapped throughout the community and is separated from the road for increased safety. Stop at a sidewalk café to grab a cup of coffee with a friend, or make your way to the community center to celebrate your neighbor’s graduation. The design of the community is meant to promote interaction among the residents, creating lasting bonds and friendships.

With average lot sizes of around 4,500 square feet, Nanea offers the largest floor plans in the master development. If you and your family are looking for a community where you can enjoy the outdoors and feel connected with your neighbors, Nanea may be a wonderful option for you.
