For example, Koa ridge offers a free ukulele, along with complimentary ukulele lessons at its community center, to each household in order to promote ongoing incorporation of this instrument in Hawaiian culture. Initiatives like this help bring neighbors together who may not have met otherwise.

The variety of green spaces and easy access to safe walking and biking trails has helped establish Koa Ridge as an active community. With plenty of parks and recreation areas (including a community pool and yoga classes), it’s easy to stay active without having to even think about buying a separate gym membership.

Furthermore, the closeness of the different amenities and retail options at Koa Ridge also promotes an active lifestyle. Residents can walk to local cafes and parks, take a jog to the community center, and pick up groceries at the farmers’ market on the way home. There are plans for a future elementary school right inside the community as well.

Hawaiian Serenity

The term Walea means “serenity” in Hawaiian, and these townhomes are meant to serve as a relaxed, serene place for you and your family to build a life. Walea features 5 different 2- and 3-bedroom floor plans with living areas ranging from 991 to 1,557 square feet.

Walea townhomes are available in 3 different color schemes and feature modern architectural elements. Each home includes an enclosed garage with hurricane-code steel doors. As mentioned above, each garage contains an outlet for charging an electric vehicle as needed.

Other outdoor features of interest include the fiber cement siding, which comes with a 30-year warranty, as well as the shingle roofing, which is backed by a 40-year limited lifetime warranty. The exterior doors are made of fiberglass, and the windows are built to be safe for hurricane season.

On the inside, you’ll find open-concept floorplans featuring 9-foot ceilings on the bottom floor. Little extras, such as the built-in storage space under the staircase, will provide extra room for you to organize your valuables and maximize the square footage of your unit. Enjoy the Mitsubishi split-system air-conditioning during the hot summer while you and your little ones sit at the breakfast bar in the kitchen.

Speaking of the kitchen, you’ll find stainless-steel appliances, including a range/oven and hood fan and a double-compartment kitchen sink. You’ll be able to clean your dishes quickly and efficiently with the Energy Star dishwasher. Each kitchen includes a USB port outlet for charging devices as well. Buyers may choose upgrades for additional appliances, including a washer, dryer, refrigerator, and microwave.

The cabinetry comes in beautiful, soft-closing maple, with options to upgrade cabinet color, style, and accessories to suit the needs of your family. Standard townhomes come with LG solid-surface countertops in the kitchen and bathroom, but families may choose to upgrade to quartz and granite, if desired.

Flooring is either wall-to-wall carpet or vinyl, depending upon the area of the home. Some floor plans include additional storage systems within the closets, which can be especially useful for organizing your belongings.

Many of the newer developments in Honolulu are including Smart Home features, and the Walea phase has also followed this trend! Residents will enjoy the convenience of an IQ Panel hub, which can help you better secure your home and control aspects such as lighting and unlocking the door. An alarm.com WiFi doorbell is also included. This feature comes with a camera so that you can check and see who is knocking before you choose to answer the door. Other features that are available through optional upgrades include Smart Home speakers, thermostats, and Wellcams to help promote the safety and comfort of you and your family.

Making a Life at Walea

The townhomes at Walea start at around $660,000 and offer access to all of the community features that make Koa Ridge a great place to live. Enjoy the convenience of having parks, grocery stores, and community events right outside your door. Take a walk down the 7.5 mile trail that winds its way to the development and connects the different neighborhoods with the amenities.

Outside of the development, access from Koa Ridge to other cities in the area is quite easy. Koa Ridge is located near the Oahu Military Bases, which is perfect for individuals stationed in the area. With just a quick drive, you can make it to downtown Honolulu. Although it is easy to get to places outside of Koa Ridge, it’s likely that you’ll want to stay, as Walea, along with the rest of the phases of the master development, offers a family-friendly community that is full of places to go and things to do.
