Luxury Condos at Koolani

Koolani was originally constructed in 2006 by Crescent Heights in conjunction with JH2 Architects and the Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company, inc. This mixed-use condominium is located in Ala Moana and stands 48-stories high. There are a total of 370 residential units along with 18,000 square feet of commercial space.

Currently, the commercial space is occupied by Island Club and Spa. This boutique, luxury fitness club and spa is a private facility, and residents at Koolani have the benefit of enjoying a discount if they choose to enroll. The Club offers exercise classes, personal training, and aesthetic services. Being a member of this luxury gym checks off so many boxes, in terms of self-care.

This building is different from many of the others in the area in that it does not offer 1-bedroom or studio units. A majority of each floor is made up of 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom units. The 2-bedroom condos range from 1,151 through 1,162 square feet, while the 3-bedrooms are from 1,374 through 1,392 square feet. The building is serviced by 4 elevators to decrease wait times for taking a ride up to your unit.

With only 9 total units per floor (including six 2-bedroom units and three 3-bedroom units), residents enjoy increased privacy on their floor compared to many other buildings. In fact, the developers have specifically designed the building with resident privacy in mind. Therefore, each front door is positioned far away from the others, creating a much more private, homey feel.

Koolani: Unit Details

The Koolani condominiums were developed with luxury in mind, and original finishes capture this intention quite clearly. This includes granite kitchen countertops with European style cabinetry. The cabinets are accented with elegant frosted glass and even include under-cabinet lighting to make it easy to find what you’re looking for.

Unlike most condominiums, Koolani units incorporate a large pantry space, so you won’t have to choose between storing your dishes and storing your dried goods. Residents also enjoy high-quality Viking brand appliances and gas burners.

The kitchen, bathroom, and foyer areas of these condos are lined with beautiful marble tile. You’ll find master bedrooms with full walk-in closets in addition to master bathrooms with separate showers and bathtubs.

Although most of the Koolani condos do not feature a covered lanai, they do include floor-to-ceiling glass windows that are able to opened to enjoy the Hawaiian breeze. Windows are also insulated with tinting to help save on energy costs and usage.

Many of the views from the units are facing toward the ocean. The remaining units primarily face the mountains. While these views are not currently obstructed, keep in mind that the area is in constant development, and the views may become blocked over time with the construction of additional buildings.

Living in Luxury at Koolani

Koolani provides state-of-the-art amenities for the convenience of residents and their guests. Upon entering the complex, you’ll use your electronic key fob to open the door and then walk into a beautiful lobby. You’ll be greeted by a concierge at the front desk, and staff members are always eager to assist. They’ll even help residents carry in their groceries!

The recreation deck is well-maintained and provides so many sources of entertainment and relaxation. The fitness center and spa include special features (like massage rooms and steam rooms) and offer fitness classes as a part of the membership. Again, residents are eligible for a discount at the Island Club and Spa, a luxury health club located in the commercial space of the building.

Another popular amenity at Koolani is the resort-style pool area, which is lined with cabanas and also incorporates a separate hot tub. Residents can enjoy a cookout with their guests on one of the 6 BBQ stations that also include outdoor dining space. If you need a larger gathering space, you can access the community party room, which includes a caterer’s kitchen. There is a single guest suite available for reservation in the event that you have guests from out of town who would like to stay onsite.

Looking to have a game or movie night? The Koolani movie theater can host up to 20 guests so that you and your family can enjoy your favorite flix at home (and not have to spend money at the theater). There is also a lounge with a billiards room, a putting green, and a tennis court.

For more serious events, Koolani features a business center, a full conference boardroom, and an additional room featuring individual business stations. Wi-Fi is available in all of the common areas.

Around the Area

One of the greatest amenities of Koolani is its actual location in Ala Moana. The building is right next to a luxury gym and spa and sits behind Kolowalu Park, which includes plenty of greenery and a playground for the children. There is a biki station on the ground floor of the complex, and residents enjoy the luxury of being able to walk or bike to numerous nearby attractions.

For example, the Ala Moana Center and Ward Village shops, both of which are popular retail areas, are only a 5-minute walk from Koolani. Two grocery stores (Whole Foods and Foodland Farms) are also walkable, so you can easily pick up dinner on the way home. Koolani is very close to Ala Moana Beach Park, and actual beach access is only 5 minutes away.

Honolulu has a lot to offer, and buying a condo in a place like Koolani positions you to experience desired attractions without having to travel too far outside of your home. The popular Ala Moana district is an excellent place to establish roots as a single, couple, or larger family.
