Hokua is a condominium building located in the beautiful city of Ala Moana (in Honolulu). Initially built in 2006, Hokua was developed by the MacNaughton Group, the Kobayashi Group, and A & B properties. It covers about 3.6 acres of land and stands 40-stories high. In total, there are 248 units with floor plans ranging from 2 through 4 bedrooms. There are also 2 floors of commercial space, providing convenient access to retailers.
One of the highlights of the Hokua building is that it is positioned in a manner that allows for some of the most amazing ocean views. This is unlikely to change with the increase in residential and commercial real estate due to the placement and positioning of the building. There are many little luxuries that are incorporated throughout the design. For example, the building includes a separate service elevator for contractors to help reduce the burden of elevator traffic for residents.
Additionally, the location of Hokua in relation to other desirable attractions is nearly unbeatable. The commercial space within the building includes Tango Café (an award-winning restaurant), Bank of Hawaii, a hair salon, and other opportunities for shopping. Residents will love being within walking distance of Ala Moana Shopping Center, a hub for retail, restaurants, and community-wide events.
Living the Hokua lifestyle means living minutes away from world-renowned beaches, elevated shopping experiences, and plenty of sources of entertainment. It truly provides the best of both worlds, as residents are able to access the metropolitan conveniences of living in a city but are also enjoy the closeness to naturally beautiful outdoor spaces, including Ala Moana Beach Park.
Floor plans at Hokua range from 2 through 4 bedrooms, with the inclusion of 5 penthouse and 3 ultimate penthouse residences. The 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom units are from 1,524 square feet through 1,981 square feet and include master suites with walk-in closets, jacuzzi tubs, and dual sinks.
The 3-bedroom units come with 2.5 to 3.5 bathrooms and also include similar primary suite features that are consistent with the 2-bedroom units. These homes range from 2,220 through 3,050 square feet. Lastly, the 4-bedroom units are all at least 4,000 square feet and allow for customizable loft space.
Purchasing a home at Hokua means investing in a luxury property with top-of-the-line unit features. Expect to see high ceilings, double glazed floor-to-ceiling windows, and beautiful outdoor lanais. Each condo is equipped with central AC and has its own, separate, water shut-off so that residents will be able to utilize water even when a neighboring unit has the water turned off for maintenance.
Many of the units come with a complimentary storage locker or storage room that can be utilized for larger or seasonal items. Residents will also have a separate laundry room (in many of the units), which includes a side-by-side washer and dryer, a laundry room sink, and cabinets for storing supplies.
In the kitchen, you’ll find luxury appliances, including a sub-zero refrigerator and a Wolf gas range and oven. Additionally, some units include a separate wine fridge and a double-drawer dishwasher.
Part of what makes Hokua a luxury condominium is the plethora of amenities provided for residents. Amenities and services are geared toward making each resident’s life a little bit easier. Hokua provides the convenience of concierge services, which include bell service, valet parking, a notary public, car service, and delivery services so that residents can use their time for work or for pleasure.
One of the more unique amenities I haven’t personally seen yet is the availability of grocery carts at each level of the parking deck so that residents are able to bring groceries into their units without having to take several trips. Residents also have access to bike and surfboard storage on the ground level, so there’s no need to lug these larger items into the elevators. These types of thoughtfully procured amenities are what makes Hokua unique in comparison to other luxury high-rises.
In terms of amenities, the real star of the show is the recreational deck, which is newly renovated and is located on the terrace level. This is where you’ll find the infinity edge pool and jacuzzi, which provide beautiful views overlooking Ala Moana Beach. Enjoy a cookout at one of the private cabanas, which are equipped with sinks, 5000 BTU Wolf BBQ grills, and food preparation stations. These cabanas are huge and can accommodate up to 50 people at a time.
If you are planning on hosting a larger group of guests, you could reserve the newly-renovated party room. This room includes pool and deck access and also comes with a full-service kitchen. There are also 5 guest suites available that could be reserved for company planning on staying the night.
Residents at Hokua likely won’t need to purchase a separate gym membership, as they have access to a 5,000 square foot gym right on site! The gym includes cardio machines, weight lifting equipment, a shower, massage rooms, a yoga room, and a sauna. There is also a large TV in the gym that can be utilized for playing exercise videos. If you’re more interested in outdoor exercise, the recreation deck also includes a tennis/pickleball court that can be reserved.
For the little ones, there is a newly-renovated jungle gym that sits on top of rubberized flooring for safety. This playground features monkey bars, bridges, climbing structures, and slides, so the kids will have the opportunity to run around and play out all of their energy! Additionally, this community is pet-friendly and contains 2 gated pet parks: 1 for smaller dogs, and 1 for larger dogs. At Hokua, there are amenities available for the whole family, including pets!
Buyers looking to live in a luxury complex in Honolulu should look no further than Hokua. With spacious units, top-of-the-line amenities, and a location near the best attractions the city has to offer, Hokua checks all of the boxes.
