Pacifica Honolulu was originally named Moana Vista by the Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company. Unfortunately, the project was halted before it was completed due to the housing crash of 2008. The property was auctioned in 2009 and purchased by developer OliverMcMillan. This developer was able to finish the project and even upgraded the building with improved amenities and more elevated finishes. The property got a brand new beginning and now stands complete.
Pacifica Honolulu stands as a 46-story high-rise building with 492 condominium units. Most of the units feature ocean views, and the remainder offer mountain views. There are 12 units per floor, and sizes range from 1-bedroom to 4-bedrooms. The location (within walking distance to restaurants, shopping centers, and the beach), along with the elevated amenities, make Pacific Honolulu a desirable place to live.
The actual structure of Pacifica Honolulu is unique in that it is made of high-tint reflective glass, steel, and concrete. Common features across the original units include central air conditioning, Frigidaire Gallery appliances, and porcelain tile in the entryways, kitchen, and bathrooms. The kitchens are equipped with stainless steel appliances and beautiful granite counters.
Each floor plan is open and spacious, and there are several safety and energy-saving features incorporated into the units that promote safety, security, and efficiency. For example, original units were equipped with double-glazed windows. This feature helps to keep the air conditioning in and provides a buffer against outside noises. There are also fire sprinklers located within the units to help protect residents in the event of an emergency.
Pacifica Honolulu floor plans range from 1-bedroom units to 4-bedroom penthouses. The viewpoint from the unit is dependent on its positioning within the building, but most units include ocean views (and the penthouse units incorporate both ocean and mountain views).
The 1-bedroom condos range from 661 through 731 square feet. The larger units include an additional den area that could be utilized as an office or family room.
2-bedroom, 2-3-bathroom units make up a majority of the different floor plan options. They range from 728 through 1,056 square feet. Some of these units also include a den. My favorite part of the 2-bedroom layouts is the separation of the bedrooms so that they are at opposite sides of the unit, allowing for increased privacy for each occupant.
Next, we have the 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom units, which are 1,391 square feet in size. This floor plan also includes a den space, so there is plenty of room for the whole family to spread out. The penthouse units include 3 or 4 bedrooms and may have been highly customized, depending on the previous owner.
One of the potentially negative aspects of Pacifica Honolulu is the lack of private lanais, a feature that is relatively common in this area; however, since some of the windows are able to be opened within the unit, you can still enjoy the ocean breeze from the comfort of your home.
Pacifica Honolulu is stylish and sleek in its amenity offerings. The building is highly secured, with 24-hour staff on-site for security (and certain concierge) services. Additionally, there are security cameras and key fob entryways to help you and your family feel safe and secure.
The 5th floor amenity deck, available exclusively to residents and their guests, is where you’ll find the heated saltwater pool and hot tub. The deck includes BBQ grill areas, a sitting area with a fire pit, a catering kitchen, and a party room. Amenities can be reserved in advance via smartphone app, which makes it easy and convenient to plan your own get-togethers.
Additional Pacifica Honolulu amenities include a gym that is complete with a locker room, sauna, and showers. The community is pet-friendly has a gated park for exercising your pets. The whole family will love watching movies comfortably in one of the two movie theater rooms located on-site. Just pop some popcorn and head to the amenities deck, and you’ll feel like you’re at the movies without having to pay for the pricey tickets and snacks!
Pacifica Honolulu provides areas for residents to store their surfboards and bikes. Tenants also have access to additional storage units, and their guests will be able to park in one of the 17 guest parking stalls. One of the coolest features of the building is its high-speed smart elevators. You won’t even have to push a button to get to your floor, as the elevator will be able to read where you need to go from your key fob. It’s the little details like this that make Pacifica Honolulu feel like home.
While the amenities at Pacifica Honolulu may make you want to spend more time at home, there are also countless things to do in the Kakaako district. The community is highly walkable, as it is close to shopping centers, restaurants (some of which are located right inside of your building), and the beach. There is even a weekly farmers’ market to gather your fruits and vegetables from local vendors.
Since Pacifica Honolulu is located across from Blaisdell Center and right behind Ward Village, residents can easily walk to the Ward Village Shops, which include boutique stores, larger chain stores, and specialty stores for products like furniture, local honey, and olive oil. There are also commercial spaces offering specialty services, including a pet spa, hair salons, and dry cleaning.
Life at Pacifica Honolulu, and within the Kakaako district, overall, tends to be vibrant, active, and community-oriented. With the variety of floor plans, the sleek amenities, and the incredible location, these condominiums tend to sell quickly.
