Life in the Rolling Hills

The Cottages at Mauna ‘Olu rest at the bottom of the Wai’anae Mountain Range. This single-family condominium development covers 26 acres of land and provides the perfect balance for those who want to put a little, but not too much, space between their home and bigger cities. There are several different styles and floorplans to choose from, with further customization options to better suit the needs of you and your family.

I love this development because it incorporates both of my favorite types of vacation destinations: the beach and the mountains. Homeowners at Mauna ‘Olu will be able to see the mountains on 3 sides of the development and the ocean on the 4th side, offering the perfect combination of green and blue hues across the valleys and the ocean. The climate tends to be sunny on most days of the year, so it’s easy to get outside and enjoy the views and weather.

In addition to the magnificent backdrop, the actual location of the community offers convenient access to a variety of activities and sources of entertainment. Residents will want to check out Makaha Beach Park and Yokohama bay for surfing and paddle boarding. There are also plenty of amazing hikes right outside of the development’s doorstep. Golfers will want to catch a round on the Makaha Valley Resort Golf Course.

While Kapolei is the closest larger city, there are plenty of basic necessities near the Cottages at Mauna ‘Olu, making it easy to take a quick trip to the grocery store or go out to dinner with the family.

Making Your Way to Kapolei

Kapolei, a larger city within Oahu, is about 16 miles away from the community, so it is a pretty accessible drive but far enough away to keep you out of the traffic associated with bigger cities. Enjoy the beautiful mountain views as you make your drive to the city with the windows down.

In Kapolei, you’ll find pretty much anything you could need in terms of retail and entertainment. The city includes some of the larger retail stores, like Walmart, Target, and Costco, in addition to smaller, boutique stores.

Ka Makana Ali’i, a popular center in West Oahu, features everything from department stores to hair dressers to smaller card and gift stores. You can get your nails done, buy the kids some school clothes, and catch a movie within the same facility. The center hosts special events and also boasts a farmers’ market that is open 2 days a week.

Kapolei Commons is another major center for dining and shopping within the Kapolei community, featuring local foods and goods, larger chain stores, and specialty stores and restaurants. The center has plenty of fun events that are family friendly, including an Easter Photo Bus, the Frighteningly Free Pumpkin Patch, and drive-in concerts.

Life at the Cottages at Mauna ‘Olu is simple and peaceful, but you’ll still have easy access to both indoor and outdoor sources of entertainment with its closeness to Kapolei.
