From the Outside Looking in

When guests first come to see your new home at Makamae, they will see a beautifully landscaped yard. Each home comes with a fence with a gate to allow for more privacy for your family and friends and to keep kids close to home when playing outside.

You can pull your car into the private garage, which comes with 2 remotes and a key pad for entry. A really cool feature within the garage is the keyless touch screen deadbolt, which makes it easy for you and your family to get in and out without having to fumble around for a key or remember a code. This is perfect for your kids who are old enough to get off of the school bus independently that need to get into the home.

Other outdoor and structural features of the Makamae by Gentry homes include the composition shingle roof (with a 30-year warranty), the covered front entryway with a contemporary front door, and the gravel edging. The Hardie siding and borate-treated lumber used to build the home also both come with a 30-year warranty.

Most of the floor plans include a covered lanai, with options for upgrading to an extended lanai. Speaking of upgrades, there are other opportunities to personalize your home so that it will be ready for you as soon as you move in! Some of the optional upgrades include installation of ceiling fans (bedrooms and living rooms are already pre-wired for this), implementation of a wireless security system, and selection of GE appliance upgrades.

From the Inside Looking out

The master bedroom includes a walk-in closet, with mirrored sliding doors available in some units. There are free-slide wire shelves in the bedrooms and closets for easy organization and storage. My favorite feature of the bedrooms is the inclusion of USB ports for conveniently charging electronics without having to find a separate charger for each item.

The master bathroom in each unit contains dual vanities with stylish integral bowls. I like the design of these sinks because it not only looks sleek and modern but is also practical in that it makes it easier to keep the water in the sink without splashing it onto the counter. Bathrooms, as well as the living, kitchen, and laundry areas, are all floored with luxury vinyl plank that is easy on the eyes (and easy to clean).

Often, some of the most special life memories happen in the kitchen, and Makamae by Gentry provides a sophisticated backdrop, with Corian kitchen counter tops and designer kitchen cabinets. The kitchen cabinets are either thermofoil or laminate material. Each kitchen comes with a GE profile stainless steel package, which includes an undermount kitchen sink, a dishwasher, a microwave/hood, and an electric self-cleaning oven with a ceramic top. Additionally, kitchens include a garbage disposal and provision for an ice maker.

Save Energy, Save the World

Like many of the new, modern developments in Ewa Beach, homes at Makamae by Gentry were intentionally built with energy-saving features. This is good not only for the environment but also for saving you money on your monthly energy bills.

A feature I really like about these homes is the digital thermostat that is WIFI connected and can be controlled via mobile phone. This is perfect for people who like to leave their air conditioning off (or limited) during the day but want to come back to a home that has been cooled down. I would adjust the thermostat from my phone prior to leaving work so that the home would reach my desired temperature by the time I got there!

Another cool energy-saving feature of these homes is the solar hot water system. This includes a 120-gallon tank and can save you significant amounts of money on your monthly bills, while also preserving the environment through the use of solar energy.

Each home includes open cell foam insulation and dual pane Low-E vinyl windows to keep the air or heat in your house. Additionally, homes are conditioned by an energy efficient 20-SEER AC system.

Basically, these homes were built to keep you and your family comfortable while still being environmentally responsible and cost-effective. I see this as a win-win situation!

Living in the “Most Precious One”

The name Makamae, meaning “most precious one,” is important to Gentry Homes because it was chosen to represent the company’s last planned development in Ewa by Gentry. Gentry began building in Ewa in 1987, and since then, the master-planned community has flourished. Their other recent developments include Northpark by Gentry and Keali‘i by Gentry.

Life at Ewa Beach

Makamae by Gentry rests among numerous new developments in the Ewa Beach area. This Honolulu suburb tends to attract young families, as it offers a range of activities for the whole family and is conveniently near schools, shopping centers, and the beach.

Located on the southwest corner of Oahu, Ewa Beach boasts beautiful weather year-round, with temperatures frequently in the 80s, making it perfect for families who enjoy outdoor adventures.

Although Makamae has a suburban feel, Ewa Beach is relatively close to Downtown Honolulu (about 20 miles), Kapolei (around 15 minutes, driving), and the airport (about 17 miles). I like this location because it is close, but not too close, to bigger cities and allows for the peaceful feel of the suburbs without having to drive too far to get what you need.

If you’re looking to relocate to the Ewa Beach area, Makamae by Gentry is a great option to consider, especially if you have a family and want to enjoy easy access to desired attractions around the island. These homes are priced in the mid $900,000s. Future homeowners should be sure to obtain a pre-qualification letter from a lender prior to coming in for a tour.
