Welcome to Kealohilani

The homes at Kealohilani are located in a quiet, peaceful subdivision within the Kehalani master-planned community. They overlook the hills of the West Maui Mountains right next to the new, top-of-the-line elementary school, Puu Kukui. Developed by D. R. Horton Hawaii, LLC, the Kealohilani neighborhood includes 88 single-family homes.

In total, this community features 88 homes, many of which were built in 2017. The name of the community, Kealohilani, is Hawaiian for “the heavenly skies.” This name is quite fitting, given the beautiful views of the mountains and the beach. The slopes of the neighborhood provide a beautiful, green backdrop, and each home is accompanied by a generously sized yard. Lot sizes vary, but they are generally 4,200 to 12,000 square feet (and a few are even larger than this). Some of the homes offer panoramic views of the ocean and city.

Homes at Kealohilani have been designed to be modern and stylish. Sizes range from 1,502 through 1,860 square feet, and each house comes with a private 2-car garage. Every lot also includes a paved driveway, and many incorporate lawns. Since the weather is mild, the yards at Kealohilani are perfect for personalizing your lot by growing your own flowers and plants.

Kealohilani: The Details

There are 4 major floor plans within the Kealohilani neighborhood. Flipped versions of the floor plans have also been incorporated throughout the community to provide additional variety and style. Initial homeowners were given the option to choose between 2 exterior finishes to help shape the look of the homes.

The Hokulei floor plan features 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with a total living area of 1,502 square feet. This open-concept plan includes a great room, kitchen, dining, and living area, all of which are open so the owner can divide the space as desired. This plan also includes 2 lanais (1 at the entry and 1 at the back of the house). The back lanai has direct access from the master bedroom and the great room. The master bedroom also includes a walk-in closet.

Next, we have the Puana floor plan, which also includes 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The total living space is 1,521 square feet. My favorite part of this plan is that the master bedroom is tucked away into the back corner of the home, which allows for increased privacy. The master also has a walk-in closet. Like the Hokulei, the Puana also features an open design, with the kitchen, dining, and living spaces open to each other.

The Makalii floor plan is interesting because it is 1 of the 2 plans in which original homebuyers were given the option to include either 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms or 4 bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. These homes have 2-stories and also include 2 lanais and open-concept designs. The 3-bedroom option features 1,646 square feet of living area, including an additional study and linen closet. The 4-bedroom option features 1,860 square feet of living space, with the additional bedroom and bathroom added onto the second floor.

Lastly, we have the Hokulima floor plan, which also includes 3 bedrooms with the original option to include a 4th bedroom. The 3-bedroom homes have 2.5 bathrooms, while the 4-bedroom homes have 3 full bathrooms. The smaller version of this floor plan includes 1,736 square feet of living space. For homes with the additional 4th bedroom, the living space is around 1,762 square feet.

Life in the Kehalani Community

Kealohilani is just one of the many subdivisions within the Kehalani development. In fact, the development is comprised of over 15 neighborhoods spread out across about 550 acres of land, and developers are still working on new homes. In total, Kehalani is planned to have 2,400 single-family homes.

While the development includes a large number of homes, it maintains a neighborhood feel, with each subdivision divided as if it were a separate entity. One of the main benefits of being a part of the greater community is the excellent infrastructure of the development. Kehalani is located at a higher elevation, which subjects it to cool, mild weather that is perfect for exploring outside. The development incorporates walking and biking pathways so that residents can easily navigate the space. Additionally, Kehalani includes numerous mini parks and a large, 13-acre park.

The Kehalani community enjoys quick access to the Kehalani Village Center, a small commercial center within the development that caters to basic needs, including groceries, gasoline, and pharmaceuticals. This eliminates the need to drive outside of the development when you’re in a pinch and just need to pick up something for dinner!

As Kehalani continues to grow, it continues to gain popularity, especially among families. The development offers a variety of housing sizes, and many of the homes feature fantastic views of the mountains and the beach.

Central Maui Highlights

Kealohilani is located near the city of Wailuku and provides easy access to many Central Maui attractions. Residents enjoy closeness to a variety of restaurants, movie theaters, and a performing arts center. Additionally, the location is convenient to the Maui Memorial Medical Center and to public schools.

If you love the outdoors, you’ll love the weather and attractions in Central Maui. There are 3 different golf courses within a short drive of the Kehalani community, and there are also several beaches within just 20 minutes. Looking to get out of town? The airport is less than 30 minutes away!

The city of Wailuku also includes a plethora of cultural amenities, retail stores, and parks. Federal and state employees will have quick access to work if they are based in the county buildings.

Living at Kealohilani at Kehalani means getting to enjoy a lifestyle of convenience with larger floor plans, beautiful views, and access to all the basic necessities. Once you settle into your new home, you’ll definitely want to stick around!
