Family Homes at Nanea

The Nanea subdivision was developed by C. Brewer Homes and built by Spencer Homes in 1998 and 1999. This neighborhood sits within the larger Kehalani master-planned community, one of the largest planned developments on the entire island of Maui. With a total of 80 homes, Nanea is small enough for you to know your neighbors but large enough to maintain a sense of privacy for your family. The community is family-oriented and provides a good foundation for raising little ones.

Homes at Nanea have either 3 or 4 bedrooms. A majority of the homes have 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, while about 16 homes have 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. In some cases, the previous owners may have completed additions to the original housing, some of which include extra bedrooms. Most of the homes are single-story, though there are limited 2-story homes. Given their sparsity, it can be particularly difficult to find a 2-story home in this neighborhood. In general, homes at Nanea in resale tend to come off of the market quickly.

Neighborhood Culture

Nanea is a tight-knit neighborhood that is close to the city of Wailuku. The community is multi-generational and was designed to promote safe outdoor play for young children. The streets end in huge cul-de-sacs, which helps to reduce traffic flow throughout the neighborhood. Because of its unique positioning within the greater development as well as its convenient proximity to desired amenities, it’s no surprise that Nanea is popular among future home buyers.

Another great benefit of Nanea is the beautiful scenery around the homes. Residents enjoy stunning views of the West Maui Mountains, with some homes even featuring panoramic views. The community is located close to the Kehalani Village Center, a commercial area that includes a grocery store, a gas station, and a pharmacy. At the Village Center, residents can enjoy the convenience of picking up dinner or filling up their tank without even having to leave the community.

Kehalani Community

The Kehalani development is located just south of Wailuku and features a variety of single-family homes. With 15+ subdivisions, home buyers have plenty of options to choose from to meet the needs of their families. The development is well-established, with initial homes built in the 1990s. Kehalani continues to expand with new developments today.

Once completed, Kehalani is expected to feature 2,400 residences across 500 acres of land. Residences will include traditional houses and condominiums. One benefit of living in this community is the mild temperature that comes along with living at an increased elevation. Between the beautiful weather and jaw-dropping scenery, you’ll want to spend all of your time outdoors.

At Kehalani, it is easy to be active because there are pedestrian pathways and bike trails to support movement throughout the community. As previously noted, the high elevation (up to 800 feet) of the community results in cool, mild temperatures that are perfect for spending time outdoors. Additionally, the neighborhoods include small parks along with a huge, 13-acre park. These sites are perfect for spending time with friends and family outdoors without even having to leave the neighborhood.
