‘Ikena is a neighborhood located within the larger Ho’opili community with single-family homes ranging from 3 to 4 bedrooms. This Ewa Beach neighborhood has homes that start at $977,485 and range in size from 1,279 square feet to 2,027 square feet with both split-level and single-level floor plans. An ideal location for families, ‘Ikena is convenient to many attractions and provides a tight-knit sense of community.

These homes reflect a modern, contemporary style with open-concept rooms and unique stylistic features. Each home is equipped with split air conditioning and updated stainless steel appliances. While some units provide washers and dryers, others only supply the hook ups, so it is important to check the floor plan details so you can have a laundry game plan before moving into your future home.

The Ho’opili Sales Center for Single-Family Homes is open 7 days a week from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Realtors and prospective buyers will need to schedule an appointment. Be careful not to confuse this location with the Center for Condominiums and Townhomes, as there are two separate sales centers within Ho’opili.

Living in Ho’opili

Both singles and families love living within the Ho’opili community, as it rests in an amazing location close to many O’ahu attractions as well as local conveniences, such as grocery stores, shopping centers, and nature sites. The Ikena community is kid-friendly and pet-friendly, with close access to green areas with dog parks, playgrounds, and soccer fields.

Currently, 5 schools are being established within the Ho’opili community, including 3 elementary schools, 1 middle school, and 1 high school. There is also the KROC center, which hosts preschool classes and after school programs as well. For those interested in pursuing higher education, there is a liberal arts college and a university located close to home.

In addition, Ho’opili offers plenty of options for fun outdoor activities for the whole family. The SoHo Community Center has a pool and rooms that can be reserved for small events. Enjoy seasonal farmer’s markets with fresh, local foods or go for an afternoon walk through the neighborhood on the extra-wide sidewalks build specifically with pedestrians in mind. ‘Ikena values the aesthetics of both indoor and outdoor spaces, but it can be hard to want to stay indoors when the weather is nearly always sunny!

Making Your Way Around and Out of Town

Although there are countless amenities available to people leaving in ‘Ikena, there will likely be times when you will want or need to travel outside of the Ho’opili community, and it is easy and convenient to utilize public transit to do so. Whether you are visiting a nearby golf course to play a round of golf or traveling to the Honolulu airport for a business trip, it is definitely easy to get around.

Honolulu offers an extensive bus transit system that includes over 500 buses that follow over 100 different routes. ‘Ikena is also located near the highway and several rail stops and is considered a Transit Oriented Community because of its accessibility to forms of transportation in addition to cars, though there are many amenities within the Ho’opili community that are walkable as well.

As you make your way outside of ‘Ikena, you’ll have access to numerous indoor and outdoor activities in addition to the amenities that are already provided in town. For example, families should check out the Byodo-In Temple, a UNECO World Heritage Site that provides solo and guided tours. Another excellent option is a day hike to Manoa Falls that ends in spectacular views of the waterfall. Turtle Canyon and Hanauma Bay both offer options for snorkeling, and adventure lovers should check out the zipline course that runs through Kualoa Ranch, a location that was featured in Jurassic Park.

The ’Ikena neighborhood is an excellent choice for families looking to purchase a house in an area that is convenient to school and work but also provides the foundation of a community that feels like home. It’s a place where you can get done what you need to get done during the week but also never run out of things to do on the weekend.
