Akoko is a neighborhood within the Hoopili community that offers 1-3 bedroom, 1-2.5 bathroom flats and townhomes. Floor plans are diverse to meet the needs of different family sizes, with units ranging from 749 square feet through 1,519 square feet. Some of the units are single-level, while others are split-level. Most of the homes include 2 parking stalls for resident vehicles, though the neighborhood is so walkable, it’s unlikely you’ll need to use a car for your day-to-day activities!
The more specific features of ‘Akoko homes are determined by the particular unit and floor plan. Some of the initial sales were completed under the affordable housing program and may not have as many upgrades and embellishments as other homes within the neighborhood. Features that are common throughout the community include vinyl plank and carpet flooring and stainless steel sinks and kitchen appliances. Units tend to come with pre-installed blinds and are also pre-wired for ceiling fans. Master bedroom units include walk-in closets and dual vanity sinks with Moen plumbing fixtures.

There are also plans for the development of 5 schools (3 elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school). Neighborhood residents have access to recreational facilities, with opportunities to work out in the gym or take a swim in the pool.
Ideally, residents will be able to walk or bike to school or work and spend less time on their daily commute. With extra-wide sidewalks and pathways specifically made for walking and biking, the community is very pedestrian friendly. For those who need to commute a longer distance, Hoopili will have its own rail station with an additional 2 rail stations nearby. Additionally, there are bus stops inside the community. Residents who prefer to drive to work will enjoy easy access to the H1 freeway. Drivers won’t have to worry about parking at ‘Akoko, as every unit includes at least 1 parking stall, and some units also come with enclosed garages.
Another quality of the Hoopili community is sustainability of the environment. Development plans include beautiful landscaping, with fruit-bearing trees so that landscaping can be made useful beyond aesthetic appeal. The community also provides access to urban gardens and to seasonal farmers’ markets so that residents will have the opportunity to support local vendors and enjoy fresh foods. Many Hoopili homes also feature energy-saving smart home features to help cut down on costs and reduce environmental impact.
The ‘Akoko neighborhood is conveniently close to countless attractions that are suitable for singles and larger families. As mentioned previously, the Hoopili community strives to include areas of recreation within walking and biking distance, so residents may not even need to leave the neighborhood at all.
For example, the KROC center, which is within the Hoopili development, offers a fitness and aquatics center that is available to all residents. For those who prefer more organized sports, there are 10 golf courses within 8 miles of Hoopili, and there are also 4J soccer fields within the development at the SOHO community center. For those who love to shop, ‘Akoko is located near the Ka Makana Ali'i Shopping Mall, the Center for West O'ahu, where you’ll find numerous stores and restaurants to explore. Residents love to visit the luxe movie theater and the seasonal farmers’ markets. Other nearby areas of interest (especially for the kids) include an indoor kart racing track, a roller rink, and a trampoline park. With all of the attractions located near (or even within) Hoopili, it’s hard to run out of sources of entertainment.
